After launching the F103 smartphone in September with 2GB RAM at Rs. 9,999, Gionee has now introduced two new variants of the handset with 1GB and 3GB RAM as well. While the 1GB RAM version is priced at Rs. 8,499, the 3GB RAM version costs Rs. 10,999. Rest of the specifications of the smartphone remain the same.
Running Android 5.0 Lollipop with the Amigo 3.0 skin on top, Gionee F103 features a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display and comes with Dragontrail glass for protection from scratches. The dual-SIM smartphone features dual standby and is powered by a 64-bit 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor. The smartphone will be offered in Pearl White, Dawn White and Black colours.
The Gionee F103 sports an 8-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture while also packing a 5-megapixel front camera. The handset comes with 16GB inbuilt storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB). Apart from 4G, the smartphone includes Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, Bluetooth, and Micro-USB connectivity options. It measures 146x70.3x7.95mm and packs a 2400mAh battery.
The Gionee F103 supports both LTE bands in India and will be competing against other popular smartphones in the same segment including the Lenovo K3 Note, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G, and Motorola Moto G (3rd Gen). Another notable feature of the handset is it features a glass back panel while sporting a metal frame.
The Chinese handset maker last month said all its 4G smartphones, to be sold in India from March 2016, will be manufactured at the Foxconn plant at Visakhapatnam. In addition, the imported F103 smartphones would now be replaced with the ones made in India.
