Facebook introduces new donation tool and eliminates fee for personal causes

here is good news for people who use Facebook to raise money to support the causes that matter to them as the social networking giant is now all set to do away with its platform fee on fundraisers for personal causes.

"We're eliminating the platform fee on all fundraisers for personal causes, so that people can maximise their fundraising support," Asha Sharma, Facebook's Head of Product for Social Good, said in a statement on Friday. which will mean they’ll be able to keep more of the money they’ve managed to raise instead of handing a portion over to Facebook.

The firm did throw in a caveat, however, saying that a small fee is still charged for payment processing and applicable taxes.

Another change that Facebook has introduced is the ability for fundraisers to pledge to match donations up to an amount they choose between $5 and $2,500. By making this change, the social media giant hopes to help fundraisers build more momentum for their cause so that they can meet and even exceed their goals. This feature is only available in the U.S. right now but will expand internationally.

People on Facebook raise money for many personal causes, including loved ones who need critical surgery, teachers needing school supplies for their students, and families in need after losing everything in a fire. Facebook said it will be adding fundraiser categories for family (like adoption or new baby supplies), faith (like missions or religious community events), travel (like educational trips or travel for medical needs), and volunteering (like volunteer programs or supplies) causes.

Nokia X is about to announced soon in china with dual rear cameras

Nokia X

The MWC 2018, In China HMD Global launched the Nokia-branded Android One smartphones along with the Nokia 8110 VoLTE-enabled feature phone. While it is still unknown when this handset will make its official debut, we are now getting better images of the smartphone, showing off its notched display and dual camera sensors on the rear. While the company launched four new smartphones, only the Nokia 7 Plus came with the 18:9 display. Today, the company showcased the all-new Nokia X sporting the notch display. It’s interesting how fast HMD Global has embraced the notch design compared to the 18:9 aspect ratio. Two posts on Weibo by HMD Global confirm that the company will be unveiling its next smartphone - the Nokia X - at an event scheduled for May 16, going by the loose translation. The photo shown in the post reveals Nokia's first smartphone will sport a notch and an edge-to-edge display. Apart from that, there is a slight chin on the bottom that comes with Nokia branding.

Display

As you can see from the image in the article, the handset tries to offer an expanded display experience, minimizing the bezels on its sides and also carving out more screen real estate towards the top by utilizing a cutout design. The company did not confirm the specifications of the phone. The phone is rumored to feature aThe company did not confirm the specifications of the phone. The phone is rumored most likely sport a 5.8-inch full-HD+ (1080x2280 pixels) display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The device comes with glass sandwich design with metal frame in the middle and 2.5D curved glass on either side. Both the power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge. Unlike the international variants, the Nokia smartphones in China come with a customized UI.

More

As per previous reports, the upcoming Nokia X (or Nokia X6) is expected to run Android One-based Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box.There have also been rumors that it will arrive in two variants: one powered by a MediaTek P60 SoC, while the other will utilize a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor. The MediaTek model will have 4GB RAM and the Snapdragon 636 unit will have 6GB RAM. As far as the camera goes, we can see its dual sensor arrangement but it does not look to be fitted with sensors in collaboration with Carl Zeiss. Hopefully, we won't have to wait long for this smartphone to be announced.

8 million videos deleted from YouTube for content policy violation

8 million videos deleted from YouTube

Video hosting platform YouTube, owned by Alphabet Inc’s Google, has deleted more than eight million videos as it leans on machine learning to cut down on violent extremism and spam being broadcast.

YouTube has been criticized by governments that say it does not do enough to remove extremist content, and by advertisers, such as Procter & Gamble Co and Under Armour Inc that briefly boycotted the service when they unwittingly ran ads alongside videos the companies deemed inappropriate.

YouTube said in the report Monday that automating enforcement through software “is paying off” in quicker removals. The company said it did not have comparable data from prior quarters.
YouTube said it still needed an in-house team of humans to verify automated findings on an additional 1.6 million videos that were removed only after some users watched the clips.
The automated system did not identify another 1.6 million videos that YouTube took down once they were reported to it by users, activist organizations and governments.
“They still have lots of work to do but they should be praised in the interim,” Paul Barrett, who has followed YouTube as deputy director at the New York University ‎Stern Center for Business and Human Rights, said.
Facebook Inc also said on Monday it had removed or put a warning label on 1.9 million pieces of extremist content related to ISIS or al-Qaeda in the first three months of the year, or about double the amount from the previous quarter.

Corralling problematic videos, whether through humans or machines, could help YouTube, a major driver of Google’s revenue, stave off regulation and a sales hit. For now, analysts say demand for YouTube ads remains robust.

The following are steps that YouTube has taken.

Extremism

YouTube officials say the company removes videos that contain hate speech or incite violence. It issues “a strike” to the uploader in each instance and bans uploaders with three strikes in a three-month period. Also banned are government-identified “terrorist organizations” and materials such groups would upload if they could. YouTube shares the digital fingerprints of removed videos with a consortium of tech companies.
Borderline videos get stamped “graphic” and stripped of features that would give them prominence. YouTube added options for advertisers to avoid sponsoring these videos last year.
YouTube automated scans have sped up takedowns of videos tied to ISIS or al-Qaeda. But it has struggled to draw a line on views espoused by white right-wing extremists, who tend to know the rules well and stop short of overt hate speech.

Misinformation

YouTube said it would be difficult to enforce a “truth” policy, leaving the company to look for other policy violations to remove videos with misleading information.
For instance, YouTube could delete a fabricated news report by finding it harasses its subject.
Since autumn, it has promoted “authoritative sources” such as CNN and NBC News in search results to push down problematic material. YouTube also plans to display Wikipedia descriptions alongside videos to counter hoaxes.
But YouTube still is cited as slow to identify misinformation amid major global breaking news events when video bloggers quickly upload commentary. The company preserves other challenged clips that have public interest value or come from politicians.

Child Endangerment

YouTube last year began removing videos and issuing strikes when the filming may have put a child in danger or when a cartoon character is used inappropriately.

YouTube does not alert law enforcement or intellectual property owners about these videos because YouTube says it cannot easily identify uploaders and rightsholders. Copyright owners that believe a video violates guidelines or infringes their copyright or trademark can report it to YouTube.

Huawei P20 Lite vs Oppo F7 vs Vivo V9: Price in India, Specifications Compared

Huawei P20 Lite vs Oppo F7 vs Vivo V9: Price in India, Specifications Compared

Huawei P20 Lite is one of the two new smartphones that the Chinese mobile maker launched in India on Tuesday. The Huawei P20 Lite is the cheapest model in the company's new P20 series, and is priced in the affordable segment. The key features of the smartphone include AI-powered cameras co-engineered with Leica, dual rear cameras, 5.84-inch FullView display, and Android Oreo out-of-the-box. Moreover, this camera-focused smartphone undercuts the new Vivo V9 and Oppo F7 in terms of price, even as it offers competitive features.

Oppo F7 was launched last month in India as one of the most affordable smartphones with a notch, just days after the Vivo V9 was unveiled in the country featuring a similar design. Both the Huawei P20 Lite rivals also have several other features in common, including a bezel-less design that strikingly resembles the iPhone X, the presence of Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box (with their respective skin on top), and full-HD+ (1080x2280 pixels) resolution displays with 19:9 aspect ratio, among others.

Vivo V9 smartphone was launched in March 2018. The phone comes with a 6.30-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 2280 pixels. Vivo V9 price in India starts from Rs. 22,498. The Vivo V9 is powered by 2.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 626 processor and it comes with 4GB of RAM. The phone packs 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Vivo V9 packs a 16-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 24-megapixel front shooter for selfies.

OnePlus 6 x Marvel Avengers Limited Edition is set to launch on 17th May 2018 only on amazon

OnePlus 6 x Marvel Avengers Limited Edition

Earlier this month, OnePlus teased that it would possibly release a version of the OnePlus 6 themed to match the latest Marvel blockbuster, Avengers: Infinity War. A week ago, OnePlus confirmed the device as well as it’s initial exclusivity to India.

If you check out the video, you will be able to see that the Marvel Avengers Limited Edition OnePlus 6 will ship with a rather interesting texture on the back, which will differentiate it from other OnePlus 6 models. The front side of the device is also featured in the provided video, though it doesn’t really reveal much, if previously-released limited edition variant of OnePlus-branded devices are any indication as to what we should expect, then the changes will be made on the back of the device, and maybe on its sides, the display will remain unchanged in every way. OnePlus had actually announced its partnership with Marvel quite recently, and it seems like India will be the first country to get this special edition handset. OnePlus may launch it in some additional markets, but its availability will be quite limited, as it is even possible that it remains exclusive to India. The device will be exclusive to Amazon India, same as the regular variant of the OnePlus 6.

OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers is going to have the similar hardware and system like the standard variant. Firstly, OnePlus 6 specs feature a 6.28-inch Optic AMOLED full-screen display with the resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels. OnePlus 6 gets power from the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and Android Oreo 8.1. According to the previous teaser, this phone might sport massive 6GB/ 8GB RAM with 256GB of onboard storage (no card slot). Also, the OnePlus 6 Coral Blue camera system packs a dual 16MP (f/1.7, 27mm, gyro EIS) + 20MP (f/1.7) snapper on the rear. Besides, the front-facing snapper packs 16MP (f/2.0, 20mm, gyro EIS). Meanwhile, the battery rocks a non-removable Li-Po 3450mAh juice box with Dash Charge V2.

OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers is coming on May 17 in India and will be an Amazon exclusive. As for the cost, OnePlus 6 Avengers Edition price can start at $650 ~ Rs. 42946.

Asus ZenFone launch Zenfone Max Pro (M1) in India with Snapdragon 636, 5000mAh battery, and Android 8.1 Oreo

Taiwan-based smartphone manufacturer Asus on April 23 made a global debut of the Zenfone Max Pro M1 in India. The budget smartphones comes in two variants – 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB storage & 4GB RAM and 64 GB of storage. The company has priced the base model at Rs 10,999, and Rs 12,999 for the top-end variant. Asus also confirmed the 6GB RAM variant, priced at Rs 14,999, which will go on sale later. Designed for Indian consumers, the smartphone boasts the stock Android Oreo 8.1, a modern 18:9 aspect ratio screen, dual rear cameras, and a mammoth 5,000 mAh battery.

Both Asus and Flipkart have already confirmed that the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC. This is the same chipset also powering the Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Zenfone 5 announced at Mobile World Congress 2018 in February. Ahead of the launch, the smartphone has already leaked in the form of press render and its specifications have been detailed as well. The Zenfone Max Pro M1 is expected to run near stock version of Android but might not come with Android One branding. The ZenFone Max Pro is an attempt by Asus to stay relevant in the Indian smartphone market, which is now dominated by Chinese brands.

The most important question will be whether Asus can price it competitively against the Redmi Note 5 Pro, and can Flipkart offer incentives to those buying this smartphone over a Xiaomi product. The event is expected to start at 12.30PM and one of the key things to watch is whether Asus reveals long term plan for this ership.
