Oppo Realme 1 set to launch in India today on Amazon

Realme is a new brand entering the Indian smartphone market, which is powered by China’s OPPO Mobiles. Realme 1 smartphone will launch on 15th May 2018 and it will be an Amazon exclusive smartphone. The e-commerce platform already has a dedicated page live for the same. Oppo Realme 1 will be an affordable phone with a stylish design and likely compete against the popular Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. The launch event is expected to begin at 12:30pm IST and you can watch the livestream via Realme's YouTube account or its Facebook page.

According to Realme CEO, Madhav Seth, the Realme 1 will be powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 chipset coupled with 6GB of RAM. He added that Realme India, said, "Today, young consumers prefer a better phone design that represents their different but real personalities. They are looking for an affordable price option without compromising on the built-quality and the device performance. On the functional side, their ask is a smarter camera and selfie experience. Realme phones will satisfy the needs of the young and online consumers through its exquisite design, leading specs, cutting edge technology and industry-leading quality. We believe we will be the real disruptor in online smartphone market."

The Realme 1 will come with a Black Diamond design like the Oppo F7 to target the "youth" in the budget market. The phone will sport a 6.0-inch FHD+ display with an 18:9 display. Apart from a Helio P60 chipset and 6GB of RAM, the Realme 1 will also be offered with 128GB of internal storage that is expandable further up to 256GB via a microSD card. Additionally, the Realme 1 will run Android 8.1-based ColorOS 5.0 and will support micro USB and Bluetooth 4.2. Notably, the phone will not come with a fingerprint sensor and will only offer a Face Unlock feature.

As far as optics are concerned, the Realme 1 will bear a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and depth mode, and an 8-megapixel front camera with portrait mode. The mid-range phone is tipped to house a 3,410mAh battery and Realme has teased an AI battery management feature that should help give the phone some extra juice.

Realme will launch products between Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 and the the Realme 1 is expected to fall between this segment. As of now there is no word on what the exact pricing will be, but it's likely that the Realme 1 will be priced somewhere around Rs 15,000 if it wants to take on the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
