Apple pulls ad blockers from App Store over privacy fears

Ad blockers arrived in iOS for the first time last month, enabling users to stop commercials popping up as long as they used Apple’s own Safari browser.
However, some apps have been blocking ads in third-party apps too, using something called a root certificate to run traffic through their own servers, allowing them to track data without permission.
In a statement, Apple said: “Apple is deeply committed to protecting customer privacy and security.
"We’ve removed a few apps from the App Store that install root certificates which enable the monitoring of customer network data that can in turn be used to compromise SSL/TLS security solutions."
“We are working closely with these developers to quickly get their apps back on the App Store, while ensuring customer privacy and security is not at risk.”
The biggest casualty is ad blocker Been Choice. It remains to be seen if it will make a return in the coming weeks.
