LG V30: All you want to know about realease date specificaiton and much more

LG was one of the first to announce a flagship smartphone in 2017 with the G6. It's a fantastic phone but no smartphone ever has the limelight for long. No sooner does one launch, than its competition announces a rival and all of a sudden, what was brand spanking new, becomes old news.

Luckily, LG appears to be planning to steal some of its spotlight back. Here is everything we know so far about the second LG flagship of 2017, the LG V30.

LG officially confirmed that the V30 will sport a 6-inch OLED display with curved edges and tiny bezels, and we're now getting a look at the upcoming flagship's design thanks to a leaked press render. The leak comes by way of a tweet from Ice Universe, and shows off the front of the phone in its entirety along with a shot of the V30 next to the LG G6 and the Galaxy S8+

From the image, it looks like the V30 will be taller and wider than the G6, with an overall design aesthetic that's similar to the 6.3-inch Galaxy S8+.

The phone still offers minimal side bezels, but with the LG logo no longer taking up precious real estate at the front, the manufacturer was able to trim the top and bottom bezels — 20% at the top and 50% at the bottom when compared to the V20.

The phone in the render lines up perfectly with LG's own teaser of the V30 from earlier today, lending further credibility to the leak. The V30 will make its debut on August 31 at IFA. With the company posting disappointing sales figures in Q2 2017, the onus will be on the V30 to drive sales for the latter half of the year.

While the Jio Phone generated a lot of excitement after the Reliance Jio AGM 2017.

The Reliance Industries Limited chairman called the new JioPhone ‘India ka smartphone’, and it comes loaded with features like expandable SD card slot, 4-way navigation, and more. Ambani, in his address, was expected to bring out a new 4G VoLTE enabled feature phone. The feature phone has been a point of much anticipation after leaks and rumours started doing the rounds. The JioPhone comes with an Alphanumeric keypad and features a headphone jack, microphone, speaker, and supports FM Radio as well. The 4G VoLTE-enabled JioPhone supports all languages, and users can speak to the device via voice commands. The company is giving people an option to browse the Internet on the new JioPhone as well, and it comes pre-loaded with Jio apps. The JioPhone’s effective price is Rs 0. This means, you can buy the phone at Rs 1500, which will be refunded after 3 years, Ambani said. The phone will be sold as first come-first serve basis from September 2017. From features, availability to price and data Plans, here is a list of 15 things you should know about JioPhone.

Price and data plans:

  • Reliance Industries Limited chairman Mukesh Ambani on Friday announced the JioPhone, a 4G VoLTE feature phone which he called ‘India ka Smartphone’.
  • The JioPhone’s effective price is Rs 0. This means, you can buy the phone at Rs 1500, which will be refunded after 3 years.
  • The phone is a feature phone, but with a larger screen, access to apps and of course 4G data and 4G VoLTE calls and will effectively cost the customer Rs 0 for the device.
  • JioPhone users will have to pay just Rs 153 a month, including the cost of the phone. There will be a weekly plan of Rs 54 and a two-day plan of Rs 24 with all the same features.

Availability and date of sale:

  • The phone will be available for beta testing from August 15 and for prebooking from August 24.
  • The phones will be available for sale at a first come, first serve basis from the last quarter of 2017. The target is to make 5 million phones available every week.
  • The JioPhone will always have free voice calls. From August 15, the JioPhone will come with free unlimited data.
  • The phone has been created by Indian engineers for an Indian audience.

Other things to know:

  • The phone will offer an innovative cable link to television to help users view content on a big screen at home. Users will need to buy the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan package of Rs 309 to get the extra data needed for this.
  • The phone also responds to voice commands, which is unprecedented for a feature phone anywhere in the world.
  • Jio will be the greatest accelerator of the Bharat-India connectivity, said Mukesh Ambani.
  • Mukesh Ambani declared 15th August 2017, as ‘DIGITAL FREEDOM’ for all feature phone users with JioPhone.
There still are a lot of unanswered questions around the Jio Phone, which we try to answer on this episode of Orbital podcast. Phone enthusiasts Roydon Cerejo and Aditya Shenoy join host Pranay Parab to talk about this.

Why people should not blindly believe everything promised at the Reliance Jio event. A little bit of healthy scepticism is good for all launches.I am speaking about Reliance Jio's make in India aspirations and whether the company can deliver the promised 5 million units every week.

Look at the kind of battery life one can expect from the Jio Phone. With a colour screen and 4G LTE connectivity, wonder how long the battery of the feature phone will last. Also raise questions around Jio Phone's refundable security deposit and under what conditions will one be given the refund.

As of now not much is known about the OS running on Jio Phone. I am talking about the software and the apps once can expect on the phone.

Finally, I am talking about the phones that Jio Phone will compete with. I am talking about the effect of Jio Phone on the competition and whether this could spur a low-cost 4G LTE phone boom in the market.

malware attack on BSNL Broadband Users for Default Modem Password

State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nagam Limited (BSNL) has advised all its broadband users to change their default modem password after a section of its broadband systems was hit by a malware attack. As per report that almost 2,000 broadband modems were affected by the malware, where subscribers had not changed default password "admin".

"The situation has been addressed to a great extent. We are advising customers that they should immediately change their passwords, and they should not be worried about using broadband once they have done that," BSNL Chairman Anupam Shrivastava told. He said that users who were affected by the malware found themselves unable to login as it changed the password of the router. He added that the attack occurred earlier this week and the compay's call centers were proactively reaching out to users to not only alert them. but also advise them about any precautionary measures to take. The report noted that the attack did not affect BSNL's core network, billing or any other system

A few months ago, BSNL unveiled a new broadband plan called ‘BB Unlimited 249’ that offered up to 200GB of data per month at Rs 249. Users would get data speeds of up to 2Mbps till 1GB, after which the speeds would drop to 1Mbps. In addition, users would also get unlimited free alls between 9PM and 7AM, and all Sundays to any network in India. However, the plan would onlyb be valid for six months, after which the user would be shifted to the ‘BBG Combi ULD 499’ plan that costs Rs 499.

Apple Releases iOS 10 Beta 5, fine here what's new

iOS 10 Beta 5
iOS 10 Beta 5
Apple released iOS 10 beta 5 for its developer preview. Users who are on the public beta will also see an update, and it is the same version. But the change log will seem smaller than the usual and this is all because the final version of the software is expected to roll out somewhere in September at the launch of Apple’s next iPhone.

The new update again arrives as an over-the-air (OTA) download for those who have been on the previous betas or who have either of the two configuration files (developer or public tester) available on their smartphones.

While the new update is still a bit too buggy, there are some improvements over the last one, even though they are not too many in number.

If you have been on the beta for a while and have been fidgeting with the iOS Photos app, you will have noticed the new facial recognition feature that groups images based on faces. Well, if you have arranged everything on your iPhone in a long list of groups, it’s all going away. This is because the new update will scan through your folders once again and rearrange whatever is currently available.

If you noticed that your iPhone 6s Smart Battery case was misbehaving after the last update, this has now been fixed. The case that is available for the iPhone 6 and 6s should now work properly.

Bored of the iOS 9 lock sound when you lock the phone? Well, there is finally something new in iOS 10 beta 5 for you. The new lock sound seems to have moved on from click to sound of door closing.

The output icon seen in the Control Center gets an update as well. The same goes for the Music app, and other locations in iOS, that seem to be slightly tweaked.

The date now appears in the swipe to the right from the home screen and even in the notifications panel (swipe right in there again).

All-in-all it’s just some minor fine-tuning taking place in iOS 10 beta 5 compared to what we noticed in the earlier betas. While it iOS 10 may be a bit annoying in the notifications area and the Control Center for some, it may seem like a good move that spaces things out for others. Like it or hate it, the bolder new look is here to stay.

Flash content will be block in google chrome and HTML5 will be default from December

Google Chrome
Google Chrome
Adobe Flash Player played a pivotal role in the adoption of video, gaming and animation on the Web. But technologies like HTML5 can giving you improved security, reduced power consumption and faster page load times. Going forward, Chrome will block Flash in favour of HTML5.
Here’s are some point to know what that means.
Today, more than 90% of Flash on the web loads behind the scenes to support things like page analytics. This kind of Flash slows you down, and starting this September, Chrome 53 will begin to block it. Because HTML5 is much lighter and faster, and publishers are switching over to speed up page loading and save you more battery life. You’ll see an improvement in responsiveness and efficiency for many sites.

This is similar to a change made last September, when some Flash content became click-to-play with Chrome 42. This had an immediate, positive impact for our users by improving page load times and saving battery power.

In December, Chrome 55 will make HTML5 the default experience, except for sites which only support Flash. For those, you’ll be prompted to enable Flash when you first visit the site. Aside from that, the only change you’ll notice is a safer and more power-efficient browsing experience.

Flash helped make the Web a rich, dynamic experience, and shaped the modern set of web standards. We continue to work closely with Adobe to ensure that your web experience is as fast and secure as possible and to help the Web transition to HTML5.
